Safety in Maguindanao del Sur
This is the area to arrange rather than improvise. Several municipalities carry standing advisories and a visible military presence, and clan disputes are a real and local phenomenon that outsiders read badly. Travel with a local contact who knows the specific town, coordinate with the LGU, and treat any plan that does not include those two steps as incomplete.
Bual Spring is in Sitio Bisang, Barangay Talisawa, Datu Abdullah Sangki. The provincial government says the spring, locally called bual, is maintained by the Indigenous community living around it and has long been the source of drinking water for the residents of Sitio Bisang.
Its cold, clear water draws small groups from nearby villages, mostly on weekends. The site is now promoted as Seven Pools, an eco-tourism spot, and the province says development there is meant to make room for visitors without spoiling the natural pools. A 2026 Manila Times column describes its naturally formed pools of clear freshwater.
